Farrell Murray Smith passed away March 24th, 2021, after a lengthy battle with cancer. He was born to Farrell D. Smith, former mayor of Corpus Christi, and Mavis Murray Smith. He is preceded in death by both of his parents and younger brother, Larry.
Farrell leaves behind his wife, Grace Smith; his children, Farrell J. Smith and Murray E. (Arlina) Smith; and stepchildren, Roman A. (Robin) Martinez, Adrian L. (Amanda) Martinez, Cassondra Rae (Mark) Pardo. He also leaves 14 grandchildren and one great grandson.
Farrell attended Ray High School and the New Mexico Military Institute. He received his BBA in 1962 at the University of Texas – Austin. He obtained his Doctorate of Jurisprudence at University of Houston – Law. He also obtained a degree in International Law in Mexico City, Mexico.
He was licensed to practice law in Corpus Christi and surrounding areas, The United States Tax Court, The United States Western District, The Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals and the Supreme Court of Texas. Of all his accomplishments, he was most proud to be admitted and qualified as an attorney and counselor for the Supreme Court of the United States in 2018.
A Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 30, 2021 from 5:00 – 8:00PM with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 7:00PM at Sawyer-George Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 31, 2021 at 1:00PM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Mathis, Texas.
