On October 26, 2012, our mother, Elma, earned her wings to meet her maker, the Lord Jesus Christ. She was born March 5, 1941 in Agua Nueva, Texas to Ramiro and Elvira Perez Ramirez. Surviving her is the love of her life of 45 years, Adrian Chapa, Jr., her son, Adrian Chapa, III and his wife Hermelinda of Laredo, Texas; her daughter, Marissa Lee Chapa of Corpus Christi, Texas; her angel, as she called her granddaughter, Arianna Mercedes Chapa and her inspiration for the past eleven months, Alina Isabel Chapa. Also surviving her are her two brothers, Ramiro (Elodia) Ramirez and Rafael (Mary Jesse) Ramirez and three sisters, Elva (Patricio) Alba, Evelina Witt and Elvira (Steve) Gordon, plus sister-cousin, Luana Gonzales; numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 1 P.M. until 9 P.M. with the Rosary to be recited at 7 P.M. Sunday, October 28, 2012 at Sawyer-George Funeral Home Chapel. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 A.M. Monday, October 29, 2012 at St. Peter, Prince of the Apostles Catholic Church on Violet Road with Father Anthony as the celebrant. Graveside services will be conducted at 1 P.M. Monday, October 29, 2012 at the Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Pat Alba, Jr., Mario Alba, Paul Cervantes, Daniel Coons, Ramiro Ramirez, III, Richard Guillen and Ray Guillen. In lieu of flowers, friends are asked to make contributions to the American Cancer Society, 4101 South Alameda, Corpus Christi, Texas 78411 in the memory of Elma Chapa. The family would like to thank Angel Bright Home Health Care and Hospice, Dr. Emile Salloum, Dr. Mark Rasmusson and their staff for their special care of her for many years.
