Ellen Townsend

Ellen A. Townsend, 97, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, a former longtime resident of Corpus Christi, Texas, passed away Sunday, November 21, 2010. She was born September 7, 1913 in Stephens County, Oklahoma to Grover and Mary Elnora Morris Dillon. She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ at Riverside. She was preceded in death by her husband, Milford Oren "Bud" Townsend and her son, Hubert Townsend. She is survived by her son, Stanley (Louise) Townsend of Tulsa, Oklahoma, her daughters, Genieve (Clyde) Smith of Kingsville, Texas and Christine (Archie) Specker of Odessa, Missouri; 12 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; 12 great great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and many friends. Visitation will be from 2 P.M. until 8 P.M. Friday, November 26, 2010 at Sawyer-George Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 P.M. Saturday, November 27, 2010 at Sawyer-George Funeral Home Chapel with Matthew Gibson officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her grandsons. In lieu of flowers, friends are asked to make contributions to Medina Children's Home, Arms of Hope, 21300 State Highway 16 North, Medina, Texas 78055-3808.
