Ellen Jackson

Our sweet and beloved mother, Ellen Marie Glover Jackson, went to be with her Lord and Savior January 27, 2013 with family present. Mom was 89, born July 24, 1923 to James Guthrie Glover and Essie B. Rodgers Glover in Austwell, Texas. She accepted the Lord as her Savior and was baptized at the Second Baptist Church in Corpus Christi, Texas in 1950. She married Robert Jerrell Jackson, who passed away in 1992. Most of our Mom's life was lived in Corpus Christi, Texas where she retired from Albertson's as head of the cosmetics department. She most loved being with her family and spending time with grandchildren. For a season, Mom lived at Coastal Haven Senior Living where she and her neighbors had beautiful gardens. Mom loved music and played piano by ear. Mother's faith in the Lord was strong and was a blessing to all and will be greatly missed. She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Essie Glover; sisters, Pauline Glover, Clarice Riley and Gwen Shannon; brothers, Gene Glover and Dub Glover; granddaughter, Lora Marie Jackson. She is survived by five children who will cherish her memory forever, Ronnie Rakes; Linda (Neal) Mays; Marilyn Wells, all of Corpus Christi, Texas; Warren Jackson of Zapata, Texas and Phil (Cynthia) Jackson of Corpus Christi, Texas; grandchildren, Chris (Brandi) Graves of Corpus Christi, Wes (Kim) Jackson of Cypress, Texas, Clarissa Jackson of San Antonio, Texas, Neal Mays, III of Austin, Texas, Johnny Mays of Denver, Colorado, Jake Wells and Gary Wells both of Corpus Christi, Texas, Edward (Nicole) Wells of Laredo, Texas, Allen (Paulina) Jackson of Mirando City, Texas, Art and Tristian Saucedo of Corpus Christi, Texas; thirteen sweet great grandchildren; sister. Deanie (Harvey) Wise; sisters-in-law, Norma Jean Glover, Mayrene Weaver and many nieces and nephews. Our gratitude and appreciation to Dr. Kent Tompkins, Trisun River Ridge Nursing Home and Lighthouse Hospice Nurse, Becky Starry. Visitation will be on Tuesday, January 29, 2013 from 3:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. with the family present from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Sawyer-George Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be conducted on Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at 10:00 A.M. in the Sawyer-George Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Bill Simmons officiating. Burial will follow at 12:30 P.M. in the Tivoli Cemetery in Tivoli, Texas. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Chris, Wes, Neal, Johnny, Jake, Gary, Eddie and Allen.
