Elizabeth Doloros “Betty” Snell was called home to her Father in Heaven on July 5, 2015. Betty was the youngest of ten children born to Peter and Susan Springob on January 19, 1923. She was born in Wichita, Kansas and moved to Donna, Texas in 1936 where she graduated from Donna High School in 1940. In 1945 Betty graduated from Incarnate Word College Nursing School in San Antonio, Texas. She was an Army Nurse in the 8th Army before retiring as 1st Lieutenant. Betty married Milton Howard Snell of Donna, Texas in 1947. Milton and Betty moved to Corpus Christi, Texas in 1959. Betty continued her nursing career at Spohn Hospital. She retired from nursing in 1983 as Supervisor of the Intensive Care Unit. In her years of retirement she enjoyed traveling, especially to Ruidoso, New Mexico where she and Milton built a vacation home in 1978. Betty and Milton were charter members of St. Pius X Catholic Church. Betty volunteered with the Health Ministry at St. Pius X. Betty was an avid Corpus Christi Hooks fan and would proudly stand when veterans were recognized. Betty was preceded in death in 1980 by Milton, her husband of 33 years. She was also preceded in death by five sisters and four brothers. Betty is survived by her children; Delores Bacon (Ken Caudle) of Rockport, Texas, Kateri Osburn (Cindy Johansson) of Silver Spring, Maryland, Patricia Guernsey (Edwin) of Corpus Christi, Texas, James Snell of San Antonio, Texas and Beverly Grabowski (Ted) of New Braunfels, Texas. She is survived by eight grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. She is also survived by many nursing friends with whom she has stayed in touch over the years. The family would like to thank the staff of Waterford of Corpus Christi Assisted Living for the loving care they gave mother. The rosary will be recited at 7:00 P.M. Wednesday, July 8, 2015 at St. Pius X Catholic Church. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. Thursday, July 9, 2015 also at St. Pius X Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Seaside Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be her eight grandchildren; Jason Guernsey, Joseph Guernsey, Amber Shindler, Christopher Snell, Bryan Snell, Brandy Deathridge, Jeffrey Grabowski and Audrey Grabowski.
