Elizabeth Marion Haas Cherry, age 75, passed away on December 27th, 2010, after a lengthy battle with cancer. She was born August 3, 1935 in Umatilla, Florida to Marion and Frank Haas. She graduated from Mt. Dora High School and Florida State University with a degree in Education. She also graduated from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary with a degree in Religious Education. She taught several years in Florida and also in Texas with the Odem-Edroy I.S.D. She was a member of Tuloso-Midway Baptist Church. She was very involved with missions work through her church including several mission trips. She was a past associational WMU director. She loved working with children through Sunday School, GA's, Vacation Bible School and Training Union. She was preceded in death by her father and mother. She is survived by her husband, Jim Cherry; three children, Patricia Cherry Summers and husband Micheal, Debbie Cherry Snow and husband Scott, and Stephen Cherry. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Micheal and Matthew Summers, Quinlan Kennedy and Jaquelyn Cherry. She is also survived by her sister, Dorothy Wright and husband Kenneth and her brother, Henry Haas; several nieces and nephews from both sides of the family. Visitation will be from 2 P.M. until 8 P.M. with the family present from 5 P.M. until 7 P.M. Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at Sawyer-George Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 A.M. Thursday, December 30, 2010 at Tuloso-Midway Baptist Church with Brother John McAlister and Brother Micheal Summers officiating. Burial will follow in the Sinton Cemetery in Sinton, Texas.
