Elida “Marty” Davila Martinez, 77, of Corpus Christi, Texas, passed away Friday, July 19, 2013 at her home. She was born April 15, 1936 in Bishop, Texas. She was a member of Church of Hope, formerly known as Northwest Christian Center and New Wine Fellowship. Marty was a well known nurse in the community, retiring from Riverside Hospital after 30 years of service. She had also been a bus driver for TMISD for 20 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Rafael and Reyna Barrera Davila; her husband, Benito Hernandez Martinez; her children, Joel Arnold Martinez, Anna Marie Martinez and Hector Daniel Martinez; and her brother, Rojelio Davila. She is survived by her children, Jose Albert (Leticia) Martinez, Diana (Juan) Garza, Esther Martinez, Roxanne (Dale) Mathis, Ralph (Claudia) Martinez, Mark (Cathleen) Martinez and Tricia (John) Majek; 13 grandchildren including Dezarae Elida Martinez; 15 great grandchildren; her sisters, Mage Macias, Dominga Garza, Eva Davila and Olga Martinez-Elizalde; her sister-in-law, Ostolia Davila. Visitation will be from 2 P.M. until 7 P.M. Tuesday, July 23, 2013 with a prayer and song service to begin at 7 P.M. in the Sawyer-George Funeral Home Chapel officiated by Pastors Eddie and Salvador DeLaRosa. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 A.M. Wednesday, July 24, 2013 at Sawyer-George Funeral Home with Pastor Eddie DeLaRosa officiating. Burial will follow at Robstown Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Honorary pallbearers will be her great grandchildren. Those who wish may make contributions to the American Cancer Society.
