Edwin Lawhon, Sr., 73, of San Patricio, Texas, passed away Sunday, December 11, 2011 at his home surrounded by family and loved ones. He was born June 20, 1938 in Kingsville, Texas to Clyde Alexander and Daisy Mae Bailey Lawhon, and was raised in Bishop, Texas. He was a U. S. Air Force veteran, a machinist for Corn Products, and then owned his own business, Ed's Pump Service. He was a member of Northwest Church of Christ and was a former member of the Banquete Lions Club and the Moose Lodge. He was preceded in death by a son, Edwin Leroy Lawhon, Jr.; his parents; his step-father, R. V. Poe; and a brother, Billy Lawhon. He is survived by his wife of over 54 years, Loretta Lawhon of San Patricio, Texas; his son, Randy (Dene) Lawhon of Spring, Texas; his daughter, Pam (John) Thomas of Bossier City, Louisiana; his sisters, Barbara Weatherly of Orange Grove, Texas and Lois Lanie of New Iberia, Louisiana; 7 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 1 P.M. until 8 P.M. with the family present from 5 P.M. until 7 P.M. Tuesday, December 13, 2011 at Sawyer-George Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 P.M. Wednesday, December 14, 2011 at Sawyer-George Funeral Home Chapel with David Fast officiating. Entombment will follow in Robstown Memorial Park Mausoleum. Pallbearers will be his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Honorary pallbearers will be Herschel Elam and Gary Maynard.
