Edward Uribe

Edward David Uribe, 68, died Sunday, March 18, 2018 at his home in Corpus Christi with his family by his side. Eddie was born on May 24, 1949 in Freer, Texas., to David and Alice Uribe. He enlisted in the U.S. Army Infantry as an Airborne Ranger, where he served in Vietnam. He was deployed in 1968 through 1969 as he served his country. Eddie was wounded in combat and received a Purple Heart Medal and a Silver Star. Eddie was honorably discharged from the service in 1978. Eddie loved spending time with his family and enjoyed the company of his grandchildren. He was a loving father and husband and in his spare time he loved doing woodwork, BBQing, and drinking his Natural Light with his sons. Eddie was preceded in death by his father and mother, David and Alice Uribe; brother, Jose Alberto Uribe; daughter, Jeannette Maria Alicia Uribe. He is survived by his wife, Estella Uribe; five children, Edward D. Uribe Jr., Nathan Lee Uribe (Sandra Guerra ), Luis Alberto Hernandez (Justine Vasquez), Jose Roberto Uribe (Crystal Perez) and John Wesley Uribe (Gracie); 12 grandchildren. Pallbearers will be, Luis Alberto Hernandez, Jose Roberto Uribe, John Wesley Uribe, Samuel Lopez, Edward David Uribe, Jr. and Alexis Miguel Gomez. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Thursday, March 22, 2018 at Sawyer-George Funeral Home, with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 PM. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Friday, March 23, 2018 at St. Peter, Prince of the Apostle Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made to the Wounded Warriors Project, P.O. Box 758517 Topeka, Kansas 66675-8517.
