Edward “Pete or Ed” Olson Offutt died peacefully on May 12, 2015 in Corpus Christi, Texas at the age of 75. Ed was born on August 12, 1939 in New Edinburg, Arkansas to Hugh and Ellen. He married Elizabeth Walker in 1970. Before and after moving to Corpus Christi, Ed spent many years in the oilfield, primarily in sales. Ed was a cowboy out of his time. He truly enjoyed the Old West and many of his pastimes revolved around that. Ed was also an accomplished leather and wood craftsman and often made furniture and reworked saddles and other leather goods. He was absolutely devoted to his grandson and was intent on teaching him the finer points of leatherwork. Ed is preceded in death by his parents, Hugh and Ellen (nee Cox) Offutt; brother , Leonard Offutt; nephew, Jonathan Offutt; as well as grandparents and other family members. Ed is survived by his daughter, Cynthia Offutt Porterfield (Jay Porterfield) of Corpus Christi; his beloved grandson, Colin; his sister, Marjorie Offutt Graham of Story, Arkansas; his brother, William Offutt of Liberty, Texas; his niece, Nancy Harrod Johnson; nephews, Gene Harrod, Russell Harrod, Larry Offutt and Joe Offutt, as well as many great nieces and nephews. A memorial is scheduled for 2:00pm on Saturday, June 13, 2015 at St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Corpus Christi, with a reception to follow in the fellowship hall.
