Doyle Gaines, Sr.

Doyle Raymond Gaines, Sr., 88, of Corpus Christi, Texas, passed away Saturday, December 1, 2012. He was born June 23, 1924 in Val Verde, Texas to Grover Cleveland Gaines and Louella Pearl James Gaines. He graduated from Belton High School and worked as an automobile mechanic. During WWII he served in the U.S. Army and received the Purple Heart. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers and sisters and a daughter, Sharon Holland. He is survived by his wife, Bertha Gaines of Corpus Christi, Texas; his son and daughter-in-law, Doyle, Jr. and Kara Gaines of Corpus Christi, Texas; his grandchildren, Brian Frank of Dallas, Texas; Melody Gaines of Austin, Texas; Isabel, Sam, James, Angel, Sadie, Tony and Grace Gaines all of Corpus Christi, Texas; his son-in-law, Bill Holland of Kemp, Texas and a sister, Jean (Jack) Koch of Florida. Graveside funeral services with full military honors will be conducted at 1 P.M. Monday, December 10, 2012 at the Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery with Pastor Ken De Koning officiating.
