Dorothy Jean Wheeler a devoted Christian, wife, mother, and grandmother passed away on November 6, 2023, in Corpus Christi, Texas. She was born on April 27, 1933, in Weatherford, Texas. Dorothy’s life was marked by compassion, love for her family, and a deep commitment to living like Christ and caring for others.
Dorothy’s journey was one of selflessness and dedication. As a homemaker, she poured her heart and soul into her family. Dorothy took great pride in her role as a mother and grandmother. Her husband, Bob and her children, Dwayne (Cathy), Rick (Mary), Karen (Joe), and Dean (Melanie) were the center of her world. She embraced the joys and challenges of life with unwavering strength with Christ at the center of everything she did.
Besides being an exceptional homemaker, Dorothy also had a successful career as a Beauty Operator and an Insurance Agent. Her impeccable work ethic and genuine care for her clients earned her the respect and admiration of all who worked with her. Dorothy’s commitment to serving others was truly what she studied and perfected as she lived God’s words in her daily life.
She touched countless lives through her kind heart and nurturing spirit. Being a devout member of Christ’s Body, The Church played an integral part in shaping Dorothy’s values of love, kindness, and empathy towards others. She treated everyone she encountered with unconditional love.
Dorothy leaves behind an enduring example of love for family and friends. She is survived by her four children: Robert Dwayne Wheeler, Richard Leroy Wheeler, Karen Jean Marquez, James Dean Wheeler, twelve grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; several bonus grand/great children; as well as her brother Finis Bullock. Dorothy was preceded in death by her loving husband, Robert L. Wheeler, a granddaughter, Wendy Sue Miller, two brothers, and one sister.
In celebration of Dorothy’s life, a visitation will be held on November 10, 2023, at Sawyer-George Funeral Home in Corpus Christi, Texas. The visitation will begin at 11:30 a.m. and conclude at 12:30 p.m. A funeral service will follow at the same location starting at 1:00 p.m., with a burial for family only taking place at Memorial Park Cemetery in Robstown, Texas at 2:00 p.m.
Dorothy Jean Wheeler will forever be remembered for her kindness, generosity, and unwavering love for her family. She has left behind a legacy of compassion that will continue to inspire and uplift all those who were fortunate enough to have known her. May she rest in eternal peace.
