Dorothy Petru

Dorothy Petru, 85, of Corpus Christi, Texas passed away Tuesday, April 19, 2016. She was born September 12, 1930 in West, Texas to Joe and Henrietta Kucera Pavelka. She was a homemaker. Dorothy and her husband, Louis, were one of the first founding families of St. Peter, Prince of the Apostles Catholic Church where she was very active, was a member of the Altar Society taking care of the sanctuary for many years and she and Louis made rosaries and gave them to many family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis and a brother, Eugene Pavelka. She is survived by her children, Ernie (Davie) Petru of Waco, Texas, Marie Foerster of Mesquite, Texas, Danny (Donna) Petru of Eddy, Texas, Eddie Petru and Jerry Petru both of Corpus Christi, Texas; brothers and sisters, Joe (Dee) Pavelka of Houston, Texas, Ed (Elaine) Pavelka of Frisco, Texas, Irene (Fred) Havelka of Taft, Texas, Albin (Jo Ann) Pavelka of Portland, Texas, Gladys (Don) Mayne of Corpus Christi, Texas and Evelyn DeAtley of San Antonio, Texas; a sister-in-law, Carolyn Strauss of Hallettsville, Texas; 10 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews Rosary will be recited at 7 P.M. Friday, April 22, 2016 at Sawyer-George Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 A.M Saturday, April 23, 2016 at St. Peter, Prince of the Apostles Catholic Church with Rev. Msgr. Seamus McGown as celebrant. Burial will follow at 2:30 P.M. Saturday, April 23, 2016 in Seaside Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to St. Peter, Prince of the Apostles Catholic Church. The Family would like to give special thanks to the staff of Tri-Sun River Ridge Nursing and Rehab Center for their care of Mrs. Petru.
