Doris Jones

Doris Elizabeth Jones, age 90, of Corpus Christi, Texas passed away on Monday, March 4, 2013 in Longview, Texas. She was born in Winnsboro, Louisiana on September 20, 1922 to Chesterfield and Mary Ellen Lambert. Doris married Samuel Earnest Jones, Sr. on June 4, 1939 in Corpus Christi, Texas and they were married for sixty-five years. Mrs. Jones was a homemaker and a member of Highway Village Baptist Church and Annaville Baptist Church. Doris was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Samuel "Preach" Jones, a sister, Marie Smith, a brother, Clarence Lambert and a grandson, Joseph Porter. She is survived by two sisters, Mary Comalander and Ruth Mullins; three brothers, Chester Lambert, Sammy Lambert and Johnny Lambert; son, Samuel E. Jones, Jr. of Odgen, Utah; daughter and son-in-law, Linda Mae and Frank Gierer of Maryland Heights, Missouri; son and daughter-in-law, David and Jackie Jones of Longview, Texas; grandchildren, Charles Porter, Larry, Dallas and Bill Jones, Jennifer Orgeron, Ginger West, Katie Karlovich and Sarah Crettol; many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Visitation will be from 1:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, March 9, 2013 at Sawyer-George Funeral Home in Corpus Christi, Texas. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, March 9, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. at the Sawyer-George Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Jack Willoughby officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery.
