Donnie Mcwhorter

Donnie McWhorter, 74, of Corpus Christi, Texas, passed away Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at his home after an illness. He was born January 11, 1943 in Long Beach, California to Charles and Opal Barnes McWhorter. Donnie went to work for Southwestern Bell Telephone at the age of 18 when he graduated from high school, continued on with AT&T and retired from Lucent Technologies on October 1, 2000. He enjoyed fishing, golfing and staying in touch with his co-workers and friends of many years. He is preceded in death by his wife, Tanya Sue Freeman McWhorter; his father, Charles McWhorter; his step-father, Jake Moss; his mother, Opal McWhorter Moss; and a brother, Donald Moss. He is survived by his sons, Matthew (Debbie) McWhorter and Chad McWhorter; and a grandson, Peyton Warren McWhorter. Memorial services will be conducted at 3 P.M. Tuesday, January 17, 2017 in Sawyer-George Funeral Home Chapel. Donnie has gone to join Tanya.
