Donna Drew

Donna Sue Howell Drew was born on November 3, 1950 in Lovington, New Mexico to H. H. “Chub” and Jean Howell. She passed away on October 12, 2010 in Corpus Christi, Texas. Donna grew up in Lovington, New Mexico where she graduated from High School in 1968. She graduated in May of 1972 with a B.S. degree in Education from New Mexico State University. She taught for 36 years at Tuloso-Midway ISD in Corpus Christi, Texas. Her students described her as a fun and caring teacher who treated all of her students like her own kids. Donna was also well known for giving assistance and encouragement to beginning teachers, and was a great mentor for them. She was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Jean Howell; and her son, Nicholas Wesley Drew. Left behind to cherish her memories are her husband, James Drew; sister, Paula (Howell) Christo and husband, Joe Christo of San Antonio, Texas; and two nieces, Meredith Christo Ninness of Austin, Texas and Lindsay Christo of San Antonio, Texas. Donna also had a host of other family members and friends. Donna's blessings included being loved by others who were drawn to her kindness, sense of humor, and sweet personality. Her family and friends draw strength from the assurance that this is not the end, but the beginning of a new life for her with the Lord. Words cannot express how much they loved her and will miss her. Visitation will be Friday, October 15th from 2:00 to 7:00 P.M. with the family present from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. at Sawyer-George Funeral Home at 12497 Leopard Street, Corpus Christi, Texas. A celebration of Donna's life will be Saturday, October 16th at 2 P.M. at Sawyer-George Funeral Home Chapel with Curtis Crisp officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
