Donald L. Hanson, 81, of Corpus Christi, Texas passed away peacefully at his home on April 16 ,2018, after a short illness. Don was born to Virginia and Eugene E. Hanson on February 18 , 1937 in Detroit, Michigan. He served in the United States Air Force stationed in Tucson, Arizona then returned to Corpus Christi and began working for Tennessee Pipeline Company and Coastal States refinery. In 1977 he started YoJo Oilfield Service company and later he owned and operated Alice Auto Salvage. Don also owned several bars in and around the Corpus Christi area eventually ending his career working for RepCon as a project superintendent . Donald is preceded in death by his wife of fifty-eight years Phyllis L. Hanson and his mother and father . He is survived by his daughter, Candyce G . Hanson; son, Eugene E. "Scooter" (Rosetta) Hanson II, Richard "Rick" Hanson; grandchildren, Gregory A.( Kera) Steward II , Melissa A. (Gordon) Chaviers , Jerry A. Campbell, Travis M. (Valerie) Hanson, Elizabeth J.(Ryan) Kelly ;Taylor R.(John) Hanson and numerous great-grandchildren; brothers, Daniel E. (Gail) Hanson and Richard D. (Bea) Hanson; sister, Norma "Cookie" Miller . and many , many friends in Corpus Christi and around the United States . Anyone that knew Don could see he lived life by his own rules. He was one of a kind and will truly be missed by all . Memorial services will be conducted at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, April 20, 2018 at the Sawyer-George Funeral Home Chapel with Jerry Campbell officiating.. Honorary Pallbearers will be Robert " Bob" Dumas, Anthony "Buck" King, Hicks Elliff, Carlos Watson ,Travis Hanson and Gregory A. Steward II
