Donald Anthony Grant, 90, of Robstown, Texas passed away at home on July 30, 2018. He was born in Corpus Christi, Texas on February 9, 1928 to Jack and Nellie (Gollihar) Grant. Donnie served in the U. S. Navy and was a proud veteran and American. He married the love of his life, Lillian Lance, February 17, 1949. He became an electrician and a proud member of IBEW Local Union 278. He served on the Electrical Apprenticeship Board in the 70s, being the first board to allow women in the program. He was voted Best of the Best Electrician in the 1996 Caller-Times poll. He retired from Scott Electric in 1996. Donnie was always helping others. He build his family home in Calallen with the assistance of family and friends. In 1969, he finished his dream home and moved his family to Calallen, where he has resided for the last 49 years with his beloved Lillian. He loved animals of any kind, allowing his children to have many different pets growing up. Donnie was preceded in death by his parents, 5 brothers, 2 sisters and his daughter-in-law, Kelley Hodge Grant. Donnie is survived by his wife of 691/2 years, Lillian “Lil”; daughter, Barbara (Mark) Davis; son, Robert (Adela) Grant; grandsons, Ryan (Abigail) Grant and Aaron (KC) Grant; great grandson, Luke Smith; great granddaughter, Reba Grant and his special canine companion Shorty. He also leaves behind many special nieces and nephews, special sister-in-law, Bettiejo Lance and his Manchester family. His family will receive visitors on Sunday, August 5, 2018 from 2 P.M. until 4 P.M.at Sawyer -George Funeral Home. Graveside services with military honors will be on Monday, August 6, 2018 at 10 A.M. at the Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery off IH 37.
