Donald Raymond Blake Anthony was born in Tahlequah, Oklahoma on September 3, 1930 to parents Edward Anthony and Georgeann Robinson. He went to be with his beloved Savior on August 3, 2018 at the age of 87. He served his country in the United States Navy aboard the USS Coral Sea as an aviation mechanic. He was later stationed at the Naval Air Station in Corpus Christi, Texas where he met Nell Marie Chance. They were married on October 10, 1953 enjoying 64 blessed years together as husband and wife. He spent his career of 40 years at American Smelting and Refining Company starting out as a mechanic and working his way up to Journeyman Machinist. He was forever a student completing the vocational training schools at Del Mar College in HVAC, Electronics, Plumbing, and Welding. Don gave his heart to Jesus Christ as a young husband and dad under the ministry of Reverend Richard Porche at Ebony Acres Baptist Church. He later led his family to West Heights Baptist Church which would later be known as River Hills Baptist Church at Oak Park where he taught Sunday School for over 40 years until he lost his vision to macular degeneration. He was preceded in death by his parents Edward Anthony and Georgeann Robinson as well as his three sisters Jean Majors, Vera Barnett, and Judy Stitch. He is survived by his wife Marie Anthony, Children Blake Anthony and Wife Janet, Donnie Anthony and wife Trinetta, Beverly Duncan and husband Walter, Grandchildren, Sheri Stephens, Blake Anthony Jr., James Stephens, Rebecca Witherstine, Rachelle Coulter, Karina Morris, Ryan Anthony, Joshua Anthony, Dillon Anthony, Heather Morrow, Sharon Stephens, Michele Summa, Frankie Cervera, 21 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. Don Anthony was a loving father and husband who was devoted to his family. He discipled his own children as well as hundreds who sat under his teaching through the years. He was a leader in the church but a servant to anyone with a need. He had a brilliant mind but taught so simply a child could understand. He was multitalented with many interests but above all he was a passionate follower of Jesus. He left his mark on this world for Christ and his absence will leave a huge hole in the lives of those who loved him. Visitation with the family will be on Tuesday August 7, 2018 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Sawyer-George Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, August 8, 2018 at 10:00 A.M. in the Sawyer-George Funeral Chapel. A reception with the family will follow at River Hills at Oak Park Baptist Church 12:30 P.M. in Corpus Christi, Texas. Funeral services in Arkansas will be on Friday at 1:00 P.M. at the Roller- McNutt Funeral Home in Conway, Arkansas. Interment will follow in the Brown Cemetery in Barney, Arkansas.
