Dolores Benavides

Dolores “Dee” Benavides, 83, passed away Tuesday, August 5, 2014. She was born December 8, 1930 in LaRosita, Texas to Rafael and Theodora Cantu. She retired from Driscoll Children’s Hospital after 30 years of service and continued to work at the hospital part time when needed. Dolores was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, sister-in-law and friend to many. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Argeo Benavides, Sr., her parents, Rafael and Theodora Cantu and sister, Elia Cantu. She is survived by her children, Alma (Ray) Myers of Cypress, Texas; Argeo “Pee Wee” (Terry) Benavides, Jr. of Odem, Texas; Arnold (Sandy) Benavides of Corpus Christi, Texas, and Andy (Angie) Benavides of Corpus Christi, Texas; her brother, Raymundo Cantu; her sister, Luisa Flores; 8 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren. Visitation will be from 2 P.M. until 9 P.M. Thursday, August 7, 2014 at Sawyer-George Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 A.M. Friday, August 8, 2014 at Sawyer-George Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Lee Brooks officiating. The family would like to thank all the nurses and doctors at Christus Spohn Hospital Shoreline and all of the staff at the Corpus Christi Villa Northwest and all the staff at Angel Bright Hospice for their love, care and compassion.
