Dean Gulley

January 16, 1957 — February 7, 2015

Dean Gulley was born January 16, 1957 to Robert “Bob” and Sylvia Gulley and was a lifelong resident of Corpus Christi, Texas. He was taken suddenly from his family due to an unexpected illness on February 5, 2015. His father, Bob Gulley preceded him in death. He is survived by his mother, Sylvia Hewlett Gulley; a brother, Dr. R. Bryan Gulley (Shannon); a sister, Barbara Gulley Winters (Randy); daughters, Gretchen Hanson Jones (Taylor), Gwendolyn Hanson, Victoria Perez and numerous nieces and nephews. Most precious to his heart were his grandchildren, Ty Jones (10) and Elle Jones (3). Dean graduated with the Tuloso-Midway Class of 1975. One of his early jobs was as a school photographer. He later worked at KEDTV, a job he truly enjoyed, which allowed him to further develop his passion for photography and videography. Dean followed in his family’s footsteps as a third generation employee at local refineries including Suntide, Koch, and Javelina. In 1996, Dean then became the third generation owner of the family business, Gulley’s Mobile Home Park, and owned it until its sale in 2008. Dean’s passion included a lifelong love of fishing and hunting with his family, especially his trips to Africa with his brother Bryan. He enjoyed many years at River Hills Country Club playing golf. His family will miss his warm hugs, quick wit, and easygoing personality. And Let’s not forget his BBQ, Oh, the RIBS will be missed. A Memorial Service will be conducted on Friday, February 13, 2015 at 3:00 P.M. at the Sawyer-George Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services entrusted to Sawyer-George Funeral Home, Inc., 12497 Leopard Street, Corpus Christi, Texas 78410. (361) 242-3205. Please visit our web site at www.sawyergeorgefuneralhome.com.
