David Wayne Najvar, 55, passed away suddenly on February 12, 2014, and is now in the loving arms of God. David was born on October 17, 1958, in Corpus Christi, Texas, the 10th of 11 children. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas A. and Helen Starustka Najvar, and his oldest brother, Thomas V. Najvar. David is survived by his loving fiancé Sissy Schroeder; son, Jerad Wayne Najvar of Houston, Texas; daughter, Jennifer Kay Najvar of Austin, Texas, his two beloved children from his marriage to Lisa Vickery Mokry. Other survivors include four brothers; Daniel (Bonnie) Najvar of Quitman, Texas, Bernard (Margie) Najvar, James (Vicki) Najvar, and John (Cheryl) Najvar, all of Corpus Christi, Texas; five sisters, Loretta (Randal) Pecsek of Green Valley, Arizona, Barbara (Norbert) Hoelscher of Robstown, Texas, Patricia (Richard) Galloway of Robstown, Texas, Helen Blair of Lake Jackson, Texas, and Mary (Harold) Barbee of Robstown, Texas; sister-in-law, Ann Najvar and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. David graduated from Tuloso-Midway High School in 1977 where he enjoyed playing Warrior football. He worked for many years at Annaville Nursery & Florist, and owned and operated a construction company, Dunn Wright Construction, since 1988. David was a talented carpenter who spent many years building and remodeling throughout the Calallen area. David loved traveling. He loved hunting with his brothers and son, Jerad, and he would often drive to Austin to surprise his daughter Jennifer. He loved family trips, barbequeing, and entertaining at his country home in Sandia, Texas. He loved country roads, sunsets, campfires, and his beloved longhorns. David was recently engaged to the love of his life, Sissy, and they were planning a spring wedding. He was a loving father, caring brother, and a tremendous friend. He was an inspiration and role model to his cousins, nieces, and nephews. In his big heart was a very special place for Pancho and Shirley Vickery who considered him one of their own. David was a member of St. John Catholic Church in Orange Grove, Texas and had a tremendous faith in God. He loved his children with his whole heart and was extremely proud of their accomplishments and the beautiful people they have become. He was loved by all who knew him and will be greatly missed. The Rosary will be recited at 7 P.M. on Monday, February 17, 2014 at St. Peter, Prince of the Apostles Catholic Church, 3901 Violet Road, Corpus Christi, Texas, 78410. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 A.M. on Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at St. Peter, Prince of the Apostles Catholic Church, 3901 Violet Road, Corpus Christi, Texas, with Rev. Msgr. Michael Heras as celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Anthony Cemetery, Violet, Texas on Hwy. 44. Pallbearers will be his brothers Daniel Najvar, Bernard Najvar, James Najvar, John Najvar, Mark Vickery, and Christopher Lay (Sissy's son).
