David Hoffstadt

October 4, 1927 — September 12, 2010

David Hoffstadt age 82 of Robstown, Texas passed away on Sunday, September 12, 2010 after a long, courageous battle with cancer. By his side were those he loved, his wife of almost 60 years, Boice Green Hoffstadt, and his five children and their families who were the light of his life. David was born on October 4, 1927 to Lena Mae and Dave Hoffstadt and raised in Bluntzer by his aunt and uncle, Nell and W. C. Ocker. He was preceded in death by his parents, his aunt and uncle, his sister, Pauline Hoffstadt and his grandson, Austin White. David is survived by a large, loving family including his precious wife, Boice; his children, Jeff (Cathy) Hoffstadt, Paula (Albert) Kessler, David (Galen) Hoffstadt, Pam (Dean) Clark, and William Hoffstadt; his grandchildren, Will (Diane) Clark and Kyleigh Clark, Michael and Chase Hoffstadt, Kristin, Justin, and Clarissa Hoffstadt, Crystal (Derrick) LeBlanc and Shane White and his great-grandchildren, Madelynn Clark, Emma and Jonah LeBlanc. David is also survived by two sisters-in-law, Sue Rhoades and Frances Burris, his brother-in-law, Johnny (Keiko) Green, and numerous nieces and nephews. David was the original good old boy; a hard-working man who worked for years at Tennessee Gas, then opened Hoffstadt's Texaco where he loved to take care of his customers who all became his friends. He later retired from Koch Refinery after serving them for a number of years. David was a baseball fan and coached his sons' little league teams for many years. He loved to work with his hands, could fix anything in his shop, and made many carved characters to give to all his kids. David loved to fish with his sons and his good friend Joe Buttler. David often entertained you with a fishing adventure, a tale about work, or stories about the neighborhood and raising their family in Robstown. He could always make you laugh by remembering story after story of the escapades of his children. In the last five years, his great joy was as the self-proclaimed honorary foreman of the K3 Ranch. The Hoffstadt family invites you to join them to celebrate David's life on Tuesday, September 14, 2010 at Sawyer-George Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00 P.M. The family will hold a private celebration later at the K3 Ranch to spread David's ashes. In lieu of flowers, you may donate to Pee Wee's Pet Adoption or charity of your choice.
