Darlene Ward, 92, of Calallen, passed away on April 28, 2022. She was born in Corpus Christi, Texas on October 3, 1929 to Fred C. and Neva Vannoy. Darlene attended Flour Bluff High School in Corpus Christi. In 1947, Darlene married Gene Ward and they began their life together. In 1948, Darlene became a mother and went on to raise five wonderful children: Priscilla, Linda, Denise, Russell and Randall. Darlene was a caring and loving mother and wife. She was a member of Riverside Church of Christ. Darlene enjoyed quilting and cooking for her family. She also enjoyed watching her kids, grandkids and great-grandkids in sporting events, band concerts and whatever other events they were involved in.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Norman (Gene) Ward; her daughter, Priscilla Edlin; her brother, Kenneth Vannoy; her sister, Maxine Fain; and her parents, Fred C. and Neva Vannoy.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Linda (Don) Anderson and Denise (Bill) White, her sons, Russell (Becky) Ward and Randall (Trish) Ward; her grandchildren, Shawn and Steven Edlin, Shelly Jennings, DJ Anderson, Donna Williamson, Blaize and Holly Ward, Kristin Garcia, Tamara Pratt, Corey Ward and Kaitlyn Bowden; 18 great-grandchildren; her sisters, Winona Manire and Shirley Wilder; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Pallbearers will be Corey Ward, Jared and Braden Williamson, Bryce and Nathan Edlin, and Austin Bowden.
Her family would like to thank Esmeralda Garza for the compassionate care at the end of her life.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 3, 2022 from 10:00AM to 1:00PM at Sawyer-George Funeral Home. The funeral service will also be held on Tuesday, May 3, 2022 and begin at 1:00PM at Sawyer-George Funeral Home with the interment to follow the funeral service at Memorial Park Cemetery in Robstown, Texas.
