Daniel “Dan” Henry Burkhardt, Sr. of Petronila, Texas passed away on July 19, 2022. He was born on January 31, 1947 to Ferdinand “Fred” Burkhardt and Katherine “Katie” Bernsen in the Violet Community outside Corpus Christi, Texas. He graduated from St. John’s Catholic High School in Robstown, Texas in 1965.
He married Patricia “Pat” Noyes on March 22, 1969 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Violet, Texas. A lifetime farmer, Dan and Pat raised their 7 children on the family farm. He continued the family tradition with his grandchildren once they became old enough to drive a tractor and work with “Grandad” during the summers.
Dan loved to dance. He was a much sought-after dance partner at Moravian Hall in Corpus Christi and Community Hall in Robstown, but Pat, his wife of 53 years, was his favorite dance partner. Most Sundays you could still find them dancing at Community Hall. When he wasn’t farming, you would most likely find Dan tending to his garden or working in his shop on a new fabrication project.
Dan is preceded in death by his sons, Matthew, Andrew and Bryan Burkhardt; his sister, Carolyn Angermann; and his parents.
Dan is survived by his wife, Patricia; children, Kimberly McDearman, Daniel Burkhardt, Jr., Jennifer Burkhardt, Christopher (Jessica) Burkhardt; grandchildren, Jessie McDearman, David McDearman, April McDearman, Matias (Valerie) Silerio, Max Burkhardt, Marcelo Burkhardt; sisters, Mary Kay (Bill) Havelka, Joan (Bob) Black; brothers, Fred (Yvonne) Burkhardt, Jr., Jim Burkhardt, Jerry Burkhardt, and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
