Dan Henry Menn, 85, of Corpus Christi, Texas died Thursday, April 15, 2021, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on July 10, 1935 in Violet, Texas to parents, Richard Menn and Rose Bernsen Menn. He graduated from Robstown High School in 1953. After high school, he joined the United States Army and served for two years. Dan married the love of his life, Claudia Batcheller on October 10, 1959. He was an instrumentation supervisor and retired from Elementis in 1999.
He enjoyed old western movies (especially John Wayne), playing dominos, dancing, spending time with his family, and attending sporting events of his grandchildren. Dan religiously attended Calallen sporting events long after his children and grandchildren played. He was kind-hearted, selfless, compassionate, and an amazing role model for how to live and serve the Lord. Furthermore, Dan was always ready to lend a helping hand, and met no stranger. Some knew him as “Dan the Man” due to his ability to fix anything and woodworking skills. He was a commander of the VFW Post 7841 for many years. Dan leaves a legacy of love and integrity with his family and all who knew him.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Richard (and wife, Betty) Menn, Maynard Menn, Ervin Menn, and son, Kevin Menn. He is survived by his wife, Claudia; daughter, Reine Cotton (Rick); son, Dan Jr., son Keith; daughter, Rhonda Pruitt (Bo) and daughter, Roxanne Douglas (Rob); grandchildren, Kristin Burgess (Derrick), Robbie McCallum, Dylan McCallum (Michaela), Cody Wright and Lauren Douglas; great-grandchildren, Damien Burgess, Adlea Burgess, James McCallum, Kasen Burgess and Ruthie McCallum; his sister, Margaret Wegeforth; his brother, Milton (Celeste), and numerous nieces and nephews. His genuine kindness and witty humor will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
The family would like to thank Christus Spohn Hospice services and their staff for their compassionate care and support, especially nurse Bill Reeves.
