Cruz Nunez Rojas, 72, passed away suddenly on September 9, 2021, with his family by his side. He was a native of Corpus Christi, Texas and graduated from West Oso High School. Cruz was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, serving in the Vietnam Conflict. During his service, he received 2 Purple Hearts and a Silver Star. He then retired from CCAD as a machinist in 1996.
Cruz was preceded in death by his daughter, Krystal Rojas; sister, Odelia Rojas; brother, Pete Rojas and father, Pedro M. Rojas.
He is survived by his wife, Dee Rojas; mother, Santos (Delfino) Garcia; brother, Ferdando (Guadalupe) Rojas; sister, Mary Ann (Fidel) Posada of Houston, TX; his nieces, Rosie (David) Hernandez of Houston, TX and Carol Rojas Ramos of Round Rock, TX; step-son, Don (Angela) Watt, Jr. of Arizona; step-grandsons, Dylan (Elma), Jason and Kevin Watt of Arizona and several nieces and nephews.
Cruz will be remembered for his 3 John Deere tractors and mowing his 5 acres that he often over mowed and enjoyed so much. He was known as “Cruzer” by his family and friends and will surely be missed by those who knew and loved him. He had become very close to the Lord lately asking for guidance, strength and courage each and every morning.
The visitation will be held on Sunday, September 19, 2021, from 5:00PM – 7:00PM with the Rosary to be Recited at 7:00PM at Sawyer-George Funeral Home. After the Rosary there will be time given for remarks and stories from family and friends. The Rite of Christian Funeral will be Monday, September 20, 2021, at 12:45PM at Sawyer-George Funeral Home. The Rite of Christian Burial will follow at 2:00PM at the Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery where Military Honors will be presented. He will be lovingly missed by all who knew him.
