Clyde Lafayette Moody passed peacefully from this world on Saturday, May 28, 2022 with his children by his side. Many knew him as C.L., but we affectionately simply called him “Paw Paw.” C.L. was one of the last true gentlemen from The Greatest Generation. Humble and soft spoken, Paw Paw was the kindest and most gentle-hearted individual one could ever know. Generous to a fault, he provided selfless support for his family his entire life. His loving soul made this world beautiful for 95 years and we all hold such great memories of our times and special moments shared with him. His spirit will live forever in those of us whose lives he touched.
Born on May 19, 1927 in Bishop, Texas, C.L. was the patriarch of the Moody clan and was the oldest of five siblings: Melvin, Barbara Ann, Yvonne and David. He honorably served in the United States Navy and was a Freemason member of the Bishop Masonic Lodge. C.L. worked for Union Pacific Resources for 35 years.
He married the love of his life, Minnie Jean, in 1947 and celebrated 71 incredible years of marriage before saying goodbye to Jean in 2018. They are now reunited, forever in love. They raised two awesome children, Kathy (Patrick) and Russell (Robert) and were surrounded by four loving grandchildren, Billy, Randy (Michele), Stan (Aaron) and Sally (Matt) and four great-grandchildren, Cannon, Waylon, Jolene and Mason. Our tightly knit family still celebrates every holiday, birthday, and enjoys annual summer trips together. We experienced the joy of gathering for C.L.’s 95th birthday with a celebration just one week before his passing. Little did we know it would be our last, but what contented and happy memories we now cherish in our hearts as we celebrated a full life of love.
Visitation will be from 5pm to 7:30pm on Wednesday, June 1, 2022 at Sawyer-George Funeral Home. A Celebration of C.L.’s Life will begin at 1pm on Thursday, June 2, 2022 at Grace United Methodist Church.
Memorial donations can be made to Grace United Methodist Church where Jean and C.L. worshiped for more than 40 years.
