Clayton C. Cardwell passed away peacefully February 14, 2018 at the age of 90. Clayton was born September 26, 1927 in Robstown, Texas to Odom L. Cardwell and Annie Wasson Cardwell. Clayton Graduated from Robstown High School and attended Texas A & I in Kingsville. He Served in the Navy aboard the Aircraft Carrier USS Fighting Hancock. In 2004 was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Mattie Sue. Survivors include his son, Jerry, of Robstown, daughter, Cindy (Thomas) Mullenix of Calallen, grandson Matt (Sarah) Mullenix, of Corpus Christi, granddaughter Dillon (Aaron) Duval of New Braunfels, great granddaughters Maegan and Emma Mullenix of Corpus Christi, and one brother, Jack Cardwell of Robstown.Clayton was employed by the Celanese Corporation in Bishop, Texas for over 30 years. After his retirement he served as a consultant for Stubbs Overbeck for several more years. Clayton enjoyed gardening, hunting and fishing and watching football. He enjoyed getting together with his family as often as possible.He will be missed by his family, friends, buddies at Carmen's, and his faithful lab, Candy. Pall bearers: Henry Smith, Buddy Malek, Jerry Rychetsky, John Lloyd Bluntzer, Mark Gould, and Tommy Gould. Honorary pallbearers are his friends from Carmen's Coffee Club. The family wishes to thank Doctors Rasmussen, Badrudin, and Dinn as well as the staff at Tri-Sun River Ridge and Harbor Hospice. Visitation with the family will be on Monday, February 19, 2018 from 1: 30 until 2:00 P.M. followed by a funeral service at 2:00 P.M. in the Sawyer-George Funeral Home Chapel.In lieu of flowers please consider making donations to the American Cancer Society.
