Robstown

Clarence Wayne Rach, 86, of Robstown, Texas, passed away on August 17, 2024. He was born in Orange, Texas, on May 2, 1938, to Gilbert Herman and Lois Marie Rach. After making a profession of faith, he was baptized at the age of ten. Wayne attended high school in Freer, Texas, where he ran track, played football, and graduated in 1956. Growing up he lived out on an oilfield camp with gas lighting and that is where he learned to hunt.

Wayne attended Texas A & I University in Kingsville and graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering. He had a long career in oil and gas working as a petroleum engineer for several companies including Northern Natural Gas in Midland, Nebraska, and New Mexico; Exxon in Corpus Christi and Houston; then Expando and CTR in Corpus Christi where he retired. While living in the Calallen area, he was a past member of Central Baptist Church and then River Hills Baptist Church. Wayne loved to fish especially when camping in Colorado. He enjoyed many camping trips with his family throughout the years. Until his last day, he took comfort in having his Bible close by his side and enjoying Whataburger milkshakes. Wayne took great pride in his children and grandchildren and their accomplishments.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Martha Mae Fleming. Left to cherish his memory are his children, Lauri Ann Hefte (K.T) and Bob Rach (Becky); 4 granddaughters who he called his “Little Darlins,” Kayla Otahal (Todd), Ashton Rach, Lauryn Butler (Solomon), and Sierra Rach; and 5 great-grandchildren, Clara and Calvin Otahal, and Genesee and Tayen Naranjo, and Hannah Butler.

The family wishes to thank the staff at St. Gabriel’s Memory Care for providing wonderful care and attention to Wayne in his final weeks. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Children’s Advocacy Center of the Coastal Bend.
