Clara Lee Herman Kuntz, age 90, died peacefully on May 23, 2014 in hospice after a battle with cancer. Lee, as she liked to be called, was born August 27, 1923, to her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Otis W. Herman. She was a long time resident of Corpus Christi, Texas. Lee was a registered nurse and received her nurses’ training at Incarnate Word College, San Antonio, Texas. After becoming a R.N., she joined the U. S. Army during World War II and was primarily stationed at William Beaumont General Hospital at Fort Bliss in El Paso, Texas, where she treated returning soldiers and airmen. While a nurse at William Beaumont General Hospital, she met her husband, Robert S. Kuntz, a soldier returning from the Pacific. Lee and Robert were married in El Paso on June 13, 1945. Upon leaving the Army, the newly-weds made their residence in Northern Minnesota where they lived until 1978. Lee, after raising four children, went back to nursing and became the Director of Nursing at Leisure Hills Nursing Home, Hibbing, Minnesota, for thirteen years. In 1978, Lee and Robert moved to Corpus Christi, Texas from their home in Nashwauk, Minnesota, upon their retirement. Throughout her life, Lee’s main focus was always on her family – always loving them and always taking care of them. She also loved her friends throughout her life and cared about them, too. Lee also enjoyed baseball, and often her little dogs, first Sammie and then Maggie, and also her little cat, Molly, would watch baseball games on television with her! Lee is preceded in death by her husband, Robert S. Kuntz and her son, Robert Marc Kuntz. Lee is survived by her children, her daughter, Barbara Kuntz Mayhew (Jonathan C.); her daughter-in-law, Linda Kuntz; her daughter, Deborah Kuntz Wilson (Christopher); her son, Michael O.
