Cheryl Jones Esparza passed away August 30,2021 surrounded by her family. She fought valiantly against many health issues and now is resting in peace.
Cheryl was born February 21, 1956, in Corpus Christi, Texas to Walter (Amos) Jones and Mary (Walters) Jones. She received her Master of Science degree from Corpus Christi State University. Cheryl taught several grade levels in Tuloso-Midway school district with her favorite subject to teach being middle school science. She retired from Tuloso-Midway in 2010 after 29 years of dedicated service.
She married Mark Esparza on October 5, 1985. Together they raised two sons, Andrew Jones, and Michael Esparza. She is survived by her husband, Mark; sons, Andrew (Michelle) Jones, and Michael Esparza and fiancé Emily Arnold; her mother, Mary Jones; sister, Marilyn and Eddie Larsen; grandchildren, Tyler, Ashley, and Nicole Jones; sister-in-law, Janette and Ken Garner; nieces, Jennifer (Shawn) Kennedy, Stephanie Larsen, Kendra (Joe) Hannon; nephews, Justin Garner and Jordan Garner and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
She is preceded in death by her father, Walter Jones and her brother-in-law, Allen Esparza.
Cheryl loved the beach, bird watching, jewelry making and spending time with family, especially her cousins in Big Spring.
Services will be help September 4, 2021, at Sawyer George Funeral Home. Visitation is from 9-10:30 a.m., Funeral Service at 10:30 followed by Graveside service at Robstown Memorial Park Cemetery.
Pallbearers for the services will be: Kelly Chesworth, Timmy Martin, Bingo Martin, Bobby Hart, Justin Garner and Jordan Garner.
The family requests, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital and MD Anderson Cancer Research Center in her memory.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to all the doctors and hospital staff, friends and family that have supported them throughout her battle.
