Charles Dennis Scott, known to family and friends as Buster, passed away Sunday, February 19, 2012, with his family by his side after a short illness. One of 13 children, he was born on April 7, 1923, in Corpus Christi, Texas. He attended Corpus Christi High School prior to joining the U.S. Army at age 19 to serve in World War II, in which he served as a Technician Fifth Grade for the 279th Ordnance Maintenance Company until 1945. He is listed in the book of South Texas Heroes. Upon his return from the war, he married Virgia Tucker, began a lifelong career as a plumber and owner of Scott Plumbing Co # 1, and raised three children. He was very proud of his native American heritage in the Choctaw nation. He remained in Corpus Christi his entire life, surrounded by the family and friends that he loved so dearly and in the place that mattered most to him – home. He lived a wonderful life and filled it as much as he could with his favorite past times of fishing, hunting, and eating delicious home-cooked meals. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Lewis Scott and Ora Margaret Bulmann Scott; three sisters, Dixie, Grace, and Betty; nine brothers, Marvin, Russell, James, William, Thomas, Joseph, Louis “Pee Wee”, Jack, and Leland “Buck”; and one great-great grandchild, Jayden Felts. He is survived by his three children, Kenneth Scott, Carolyn Kelley (Glen), and Margaret “Candy” Ramsey (Tom); his seven grandchildren , Steven Scott, Brandy Scott, Gary Knape Jr., Kendra Flores, Laura Kelley Reimer (Brent), Sky Hook, and Kristin Hook; nine great-grandchildren (with one great and one great-great on the way); and numerous nieces and nephews. A special thanks to “Knobs” Gary Knape Jr. for taking care of “Peeps” in his last days at home. Services will be held on Friday, February 24, 2012, at the Sawyer-George Funeral Home Chapel in Calallen, Texas at 11:30 A.M. Burial with full military honors will follow at the Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery at 1:00pm
