Chaloeung Sok Womack was born in Chaeng Kdar, Cambodia on March 10, 1964 and passed away peacefully on February 17, 2020 in Corpus Christi, TX. Chaloeung was a loving wife, mother, sister, and friend, and was the embodiment of the modern American dream. After escaping war-torn Cambodia under the Khmer Rouge regime, she and her family moved between multiple refugee camps in Thailand and Philippines for 3 years before emigrating to the United States. Chaloeung was a caring individual, always putting the health and safety of others first before herself. As her family's oldest daughter, she was responsible for looking after her younger siblings both in Asia and after settling in the United States. She married her husband Richard Womack in 1990, and they had their only child, Richard Womack, Jr. shortly after. Chaloeung spent the remainder of her years taking care of both her husband and son while also working as a Certified Nursing Assistant and housekeeper to make ends meet. She always kept herself busy, either by working, tending to her garden, or helping babysit for neighbors and friends. She will be remembered as a caring and kind individual and will be missed by all. Chaloeung is survived by her son, Richard Womack, Jr., her sisters, Samroun Marr, Vimean Tith, Reaksmey Tuy, and her brother, Sarith Sok. Funeral services will be at 4:15 P.M. on Friday, February 21, 2020 at the Sawyer-George Funeral Home Chapel. Immediately following the funeral service there will be a visitation with the family until 8:00 P.M. Her cremated remains will be buried at Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery on Friday, February 28, 2020 at 11:00 A.M. Any flowers or other gifts may be sent to Sawyer-George Funeral Home.
