Casimiro Benavidez III, age 63, of Corpus Christi, Texas, passed away on April 21, 2013 after a decade long battle with cancer. He was born on August 9, 1949 in Corpus Christi, Texas. Cas is a veteran of the Viet Nam War, where he served in-country, first as a medical corpsman and then as a surgical technician. Upon return to civilian life, his passion for helping others continued as a surgical tech at Spohn Memorial Hospital. He then transitioned into Renal Dialysis, eventually going to CCSU and earning his Bachelors Degree in Psychology and Nursing. Cas worked primarily in dialysis for the rest of his career. Cas was an avid Harley Davidson rider. He proudly rode with his brother’s in the Viet Nam Vets M/C for 29 years. This group of brothers is bonded by history, and united by principles to help build a better future for all veterans and their families. He is survived by his mother, Rosa (Harry) Campos; father, Casimiro Benavidez II; four siblings, Lisa (Erick) Montez, Leticia (Rolland) Tenerias, Mario and Marcos Benavidez; two sons, Casimiro Benavidez IV (Kristie) and Ernest Kristopher (Lana) Benavidez. He will also be missed by his four grandchildren, Cassandra, Shadow, Kyea, and Casimiro (Beanie) Benavidez V; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and in-laws. He was a loving and caring son, father, and grandfather. The Rosary will be recited on Thursday, April 25, 2013 at 4:00 P.M. at Sawyer-George Funeral Home. Following the Rosary a visitation with the family will be from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Sawyer-George Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, April 26, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. in the Sawyer-George Funeral Home Chapel. Interment with full military honors will be at the Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery.
