Carolyn Tally Hutchinson passed away on Tuesday, September 25, 2012 at 92 years of age in New Braunfels, Texas where she resided for the past three years. In 1920 she was born in Robstown, Texas to Walton and Nona Tally. After attending schools in Robstown, Carolyn was one of five women to graduate in 1941 from the School of Pharmacy at the University of Texas. While at the University, she was a member of Alpha Gamma Delta sorority and also a Bluebonnet Belle. Her career began at the Tower Pharmacy as the first female pharmacist to be employed in Corpus Christi, Texas. Later, for many years, she was a familiar face behind the counter at the City Drug in Robstown, Texas. Carolyn’s main interest was her family. During her lifetime she also enjoyed the local Garden Club activities and spoon and antique collecting. She always loved playing bridge with her many friends. She was a long-time member of First United Methodist Church in Robstown, Texas. Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Aldon and her sister Betty. Survivors include her husband of sixty-eight years, Alton "Hutch" Hutchinson; daughters, Carole Carlson (Kent) of Colorado Springs, Colorado and Cindy Weise (Gary) of New Braunfels, Texas; and grandchildren, Kyle Carlson of Colorado Springs, Colorado and Ashley Weise of Georgetown, Texas. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. on Friday, September 28, 2012 at Sawyer-George Funeral Home, 12497 Leopard Street, Corpus Christi, Texas. Funeral services will be conducted at 3:30 P.M. on Saturday, September 29, 2012 at First United Methodist Church in Robstown, Texas with Rev. K. Vanessa LeVine officiating. Burial will follow at Robstown Cemetery.
