Carolyn Goodwin

Carolyn Jo Goodwin, 76, of Corpus Christi, Texas, passed away on Monday, December 26, 2016 at the Windsor Calallen of a stroke and associated complications. She was born March 25, 1940 in Gonzales, Texas to Jack and Lula Rae Osborne. She graduated high school from Waelder, Texas in 1958 and attended Southwest Texas State Teachers College, graduating in 1961. She was an elementary school educator in Calallen ISD for thirty years, who had been retired for the past thirteen years. Carolyn was an active member of Grace United Methodist Church and she enjoyed traveling and visiting with her many friends and family. Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband of forty years, K.W. "Bud" Goodwin, as well as, her parents, Jack and Lula Rae Osborne. She is survived by her two sons, Mike Goodwin and wife Mimi of Austin, Jack Goodwin and wife Lisa of Orange Grove; four grandchildren, Mac and Atlee of Austin and Sierra and Skylar of Orange Grove; one sister, Betty Sue Druebert and her husband Juno of Kerrville; two nephews, Pat Druebert of Kerrville and Joel Druebert of Austin and numerous extended family members. Visitation will be from 1:00 pm to 7:00 pm with the family present from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Thursday, December 29, 2016 at the Sawyer-George Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 am on Friday, December 30, 2016 in Grace United Methodist Church, The Rev. Jason Fry officiating. Graveside services will be conducted at 4:00 pm, Friday, December 30, 2016 in Waelder City Cemetery, Waelder, Texas. Pallbearers for the funeral service are Billie Joe Ordner, Lin Wilson, Glynn Schanen, Chuck Stennet, Pat Druebert and Joel Druebert. The family would like to thank the staff at Windsor Calallen for the outstanding level of care they provided to Carolyn over the course of the past year. We would also like to thank Carolyn's close group of dedicated friends which have helped her throughout this past year. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Grace United Methodist Church or Waelder City Cemetery.
