Carla Diane Ehlers Edge Sept. 15th, 1937 — January 4th, 2020 We have lost our wonderful Carla (a.k.a. Muzzy) and don't know how to express in words all the gaps she leaves in our lives: wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, friend, neighbor, teacher, choir director, singer, pianist...the list goes on and on. Carla was born and raised in Palacios, Texas. Her parents, Mildred Martin Ehlers and Karl Ehlers were so proud of her and her numerous achievements, honors and awards all through school and childhood. She showed a gift for music at a very early age. She continued to play and sing throughout her life; (we heard her singing from her bed just days before she passed). We are all so grateful that she not only shared her talents as a performer and teacher, but she also passed on her love of music to her family and many, many students, friends and church members. Carla is survived by her devoted husband, Clifford Edge, Jr. and her five children: Kippy (Debbie) Edge of Portland, TX; Carl Edge of San Luis Obispo, CA; Craig (Michelle) Edge of Andover, KS; Chris (Mimi) Edge of Los Fresnos, TX; and Cara (Louis) Salin-Edge of Cedar Park, TX. All five of the kids have Carla's wonderful sense of humor and talent for music. Carla also has twelve of the most amazing and talented grandkids in the world (according to her): Chelsea, Caitlin (Hunter), Courtny, Camber, Caven, Cora, Cenna, Camie, Carly, Casey, Jacques and Emile. Other survivors include lots of students, friends, choir members and people who might have heard her sing and play in a restaurant or a church. We will all miss her dearly. Viewing for Carla will be on Thursday, January 9th at the Sawyer George Funeral Home from 2:00-7:00pm; family will attend from 5:00-7:00pm. The funeral service will be Friday, January 10th at 3:00pm at the old First Methodist church building on 4th and Avenue B in Robstown; family graveside service will be on Saturday, January 11th at 11:00am in Palacios, Tx. She will be laid to rest right by her parents. Carla loved flowers, but if you would rather honor her memory with a more lasting gift, the family would be so pleased if you would donate to Del Mar College's "Friends of Music" scholarship program in Carla's name. https://delmar.edu/foundation/ (Click OTHER and type in Friends of Music) Please don't feel you have to give anything worldly; the family also appreciates your prayers and supportive thoughts as we try to adjust to having Carla/Mother/Muzzy in our hearts and minds instead of with us here on Earth. Thank you so much for helping us honor our amazing and loving Muzzy.
