Carl Fredrick Lovaas, 83, a lifetime resident of Corpus Christi, Texas, passed away Wednesday, May 10, 2017 after a brief illness. He was born July 3, 1933 in Pharr, Texas. He was a carpenter and had been a member of the Carpenter’s Local Union for over 50 years. He was a retired superintendent for Stefek Construction, working there for 30+ years and then his final retirement was with C-D Electric. In his earlier years he enjoyed hunting and fishing and in his later years enjoyed golfing. Most of all he enjoyed time with his family. He is preceded in death by his parents, Even and Rebia Robinson Lovaas and two brothers, Leon and Phil Lovaas. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Dianne B. Lovaas; his son, Fred (Arlene) Lovaas; his daughter, Stacey (Barry) Tate; four grandchildren, Carl and Travis Lovaas and Kristin and Hunter McWhorter; his aunt, Alice Shafer; several nieces and nephews. Visitation with the family present will be from 5 P.M. until 7 P.M. Sunday, May 14, 2017 at Sawyer-George Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 A.M. Monday, May 15, 2017 at Sawyer-George Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery, 8200 Old Brownsville Road, Corpus Christi, Texas 78415. Pallbearers will be Ronnie Armstrong, Chris Cunningham, Mark Leinweber, Danny Lovaas, Justin Majek and Bill Pittaway. Honorary pallbearer will be Jerry Majek.
