Carl Hill, Sr.

Carl Allen Hill Sr., age 53, of Bishop, left this earth to be with our Heavenly Father peacefully at his home on January 14, 2023. He was a beloved father, son, brother, nephew, grandfather and dear friend. He was a member of the Church of Christ. Carl started as a volunteer firefighter in the ESD3 and went on to serve as Fire Chief of the Bishop volunteer fire department and Fire Chief of Kenedy County. Carl was currently an ESD3 Commissioner and had close to 30 years of service. He easily made friends everywhere he went and was best known for his quick-witted humor, fierce determination and generous spirit. He loved firefighting, fishing, hunting and most of all spending time with his family and friends. Carl’s legacy is his love of taking care of people and serving others.

Carl was preceded in death by his Grandparents, Autumn and Delia Hill of Bishop and Uncles, Autumn Hill Sr. of Odem, Rayford Hill of Corpus Christi and Leslie Hill of Austin.

Carl is survived by his parents, Gay and Joe Bob Crabb of Lagarto; three daughters, Jesi Rivera of Kingsville, Summer Hill and husband, Miguel Perez, and Mondana Hill both of Corpus Christi; one son, Carl Hill II and his wife, Demeika Hill of Corpus Christi; 10 Grandchildren; two sisters, Candy Jo Fuller and her husband, Todd Fuller of Tuleta and Sue Hill Bonar of San Antonio; Aunt, Joy Hill Lea of Bishop; Uncles, Lacey Hill of Odem and Richard Hill of Victoria.

The visitation will be held from 6:00pm - 8:00pm on Thursday, January 19, 2023. The funeral service will be conducted at 9:30am on Friday, January 20, 2023 at Sawyer-George Funeral Home in Corpus Christi, with Buck Griffith officiating. Burial will follow at Seaside Memorial Park Cemetery in Corpus Christi at 11:30am with Bell Ceremony done by ESD3.

In lieu of flowers, the family asked that donations be made to the ESD3, PO Box 326, Bishop, TX 78343 to continue the support of future firefighters.
