Calvin Lawson

Calvin Lawson, 89, of Odem, Texas, passed away Friday, August 12, 2016 at his home. He was born May 22, 1927 in Joplin, Missouri. Calvin was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII. He retired from Otis Engineering as a division manager after over 35 years of service. They had lived in Falfurrias, Friendswood and Longview while working for Otis. Calvin was a member of First Baptist Church in Odem, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilber Henry Lawson and Minnie Hillig Lawson; 3 sisters and 5 brothers including his twin brother, Carl; and his daughter, Brenda Wostal. He is survived by his wife of over 65 years, Ruth Lawson of Odem, Texas; his daughters, Patsy (Tim) Eichholtz of Tomball, Texas and Frances Lundy of Clute, Texas; his son, Calvin (Joni) Lawson of Katy, Texas; a son-in-law, Buddy Wostal of Corpus Christi, Texas; 8 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will begin at 9 A.M. and the funeral service will be conducted at 10 A.M. Tuesday, August 16, 2016 at First Baptist Church in Odem, Texas with Pastor Willis Moore officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery in Odem, Texas.
