Ivan Wilson passed on to his eternal reward on Wednesday March 30, 2016, in Corpus Christi, TX. He was born to Jesse & Ruby Jewel Wilson on September 16, 1927 in Kerrville, TX. He spent most of his younger years in and around San Antonio. After graduating from Harlandale High School he attended college at Freed Hardeman in Tennessee, later transferring to Abilene Christian College and received his degree from Southwest Texas State University, in Mathematics. Following college he taught English in Devine, TX before serving in the United States Air Force. After being discharged from the service he worked for Burroughs Corporation, which led to a move to Corpus Christi and a banking career. He began his career with Corpus Christi Bank and Trust, which later became First City Bank. At First City Bank he rose in ranks to Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of First City Bancorporation. He served as Chairman of the Board of Texas Bankers Association. He also served on many other professional organizations. His career in banking was a platform, which allowed him to pursue his greatest passion, which was service to his community and to others. He served on numerous community boards including the United Way of the Coastal Bend, Corpus Christi Chamber of Commerce, the Del Mar Board of Regents and the Coastal Bend Community Foundation. Additionally one of the most important parts of his life was his 35 years of service as a Trustee on the Driscoll Foundation. He served in numerous positions on the Foundation Board and the Driscoll Children's Hospital Governing Board, including the Chairman of both Boards for a number of years. His vision for Driscoll Children's Hospital was to continue to serve all children, regardless of their ability to pay. While his love of the community was important to him his faith in God and his love for his family was first and foremost in his life. His parents, and the love of his life, Lola Wilson who passed away on Dec 4th, 2015, preceded him in death. He is survived by four sons, Alan (Catrina) Wilson of Corpus Christi, Dale (Sandy) Wilson of Alice, Greg Wilson of Corpus Christi and Mark Wilson of Houston, TX. 10 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren also survive him. He loved so many and was loved by so many. We will miss him. We would like to extend a special thank you to Nurses on Wheels for the excellent care they provided.
