Bobby Ray Smith was born December 5, 1939, in Corpus Christi, Texas. He went home to his Heavenly Father on January 17, 2024, at the age of 84.
Bobby is survived by his wife of sixty years, Rose Ann (Kinard) Smith; daughter, Mary Catherine (Jacob Page); and grandchildren, Emily and Luke Page. He is predeceased by his parents, W.E. and Doris Smith; and his brother, R.E. “Mickey” Smith.
Bobby graduated from Tuloso-Midway High School in 1958 and joined the U.S. Army in 1959. He served our country during the Cold War Era in Germany until 1962. Bobby and Rose Ann married in June of 1963. He earned a Bachelor of Science from Corpus Christi University and a Master of Theology from the Baptist Learning Center through Howard Payne University.
Bobby served on staff at many Corpus Christi churches. He and his beloved wife, Rose Ann, founded an outreach ministry (Truth Ministries, LLC) in 1973. It was through Truth Ministries that Bobby and Rose Ann were able to travel the world learning and teaching about Jesus Christ. This discipleship led them to all ends of the earth. From Lazbuddie, Texas to Winthrop, Arkansas, and from Switzerland to Israel, they traveled and dedicated their lives to the service and salvation of others.
Bobby and Rose Ann Smith eventually returned to Corpus Christi, Texas in 1983. Bobby enjoyed dining with his wife, studying his vast library of books, and anything related to his grandchildren. A memorial service to celebrate the life of Bobby Ray Smith will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 3 at Sawyer George Funeral Home.
