In the mid 1960s, she became the school nurse at the Hattie Martin Elementary School where she watched many of the babies she helped deliver, grow up, graduate, and have children of their own. She retired from the school system in 1988.
After retirement, she spent her time reading, traveling, visiting family and watching her two grandchildren grow up.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Clarence Krause; parents, Charlie and Ruby Cole; sister, Betty Cole Dunn and brothers, Charles and Boyd Cole.
She is survived by her daughter, Susan Krause; son, Gary Krause; grandsons, Cameron and Collin Calvo and brothers, Leroy and James Cole.
Caring for others as a nurse was her passion and she always strived to give the best care possible to all her patients. She was proud that several of her nieces were inspired by her and perused their nursing degree.
