Birdie Jean Hankins Davis died May 9, 2014. She was born November 9, 1929 in Coughran, Texas (located 5 miles east of Pleasanton). She was raised in a small community Coughran, going barefooted for 15 years and then moving to Robstown in 1944. She graduated from Robstown High School in 1947, then went to Sul Ross College in Alpine, University of Corpus Christi and Del Mar College, she then received a Masters degree from A&I College in Kingsville. She taught school for 36 years in Robstown. She loved feeding her birds and growing beautiful plants in her yard. She is preceded in death by her mother and father, Lucille and Charles Hankins; sister and brother-in-law Charlyne and Tom Wilson; her brother, Wayne Hankins; her son, Paul Anthony Wasson; and her husband of 40 years, Jim D avis. Birdie is survived by two daughters, Linda Kay Davis of Abilene and Cynthia Ann Mackerer of San Antonio; grandsons, Casten and Cathy Mackerer of New Braunfels, Kelly and Kathleen Mackerer, and Clint and Kristin Mackerer both of San Antonio; two great grandsons, Morgan and Collins Mackerer. The visitation will be on Monday, May 12, 2014 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Arlington Heights Church of Christ, Corpus Christi, Texas. The service will be conducted at 1:00 PM. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Robstown. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the American Cancer Society.
