It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Billy Dee Thomas, Jr., a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend, who departed this life on April 10, 2025 surrounded by his children at the age of 72.
Born on October 2, 1952 in Corpus Christi, TX, Billy lived a life marked by love, generosity and unwavering devotion to his family and his work. He was preceded in death by his wife, Debra Lynn Thomas with whom he shared 15 years of marriage and his father, Billy Dee Thomas, Sr., his aunt and uncle Nina and Harley Riebschelager, his sisters Kat Case and Theresa Whitehead. He is survived by his mother, Mary Graves, his brother Larry (Charnell) Graves, sisters Rita (Marvin) Taylor, Dottie (Dale) Beavers and cousins, Weldon (Valerie) Riebschleager, Cathy (Harry) Greenall and Karen Ragan.
Billy was a proud and devoted father to his three children: Billy (Brittney) Thomas, Justin (Stephanie) Thomas and Brittany (Kyle) Watson. His wisdom, guidance, and boundless support were a constant source of strength for his family. He also took immense joy in being a grandfather to his 12 grandchildren; Kyle (Savannah), Justine, Raelynn, Ashton, Madox, Maevyn, Bennett, Bristol, Remi, Dawson, Paxson and Josie, a great-grandfather to 2 great-grandchildren; Liam and Myles, each of whom brought him great pride and happiness.
A man of quiet faith, a strong work ethic and an unwavering sense of optimism, Billy will be remembered for his strength, his sense of humor, and his commitment to those he loved. Whether working on his hot rods, sharing stories or offering a helping hand to those he loved, he was the embodiment of the values he held dear.
He leaves behind a legacy of love, hard work and faith that will continue to live on through his family and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A celebration of Billy’s life will be held on April 15, 2025 at Sawyer George Funeral Home in Corpus Christi, TX. Friends and loved ones are invited to attend and share in honoring his memory.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered. Bye-cycle.
