Beverly Ann Gill passed away peacefully on the evening of January 6, 2025 in Corpus Christi, Texas at the age of 87 years old.
She was born in Dallas, Texas on May 24, 1937, daughter of Milton Padgett Sr. and Nanny Louise Hardison Padgett. She grew up in the Oak Cliff area of Dallas, Texas. Beverly graduated from Sunset High School in Dallas, Texas, Class of 1955.
She married Gary Wayne Stewart on March 15, 1957. Gary and Beverly moved to Mesquite, Texas in May of 1958 and raised their three children. In 1972 they moved to Corpus Christi, Texas. She was involved with the PTA at Zach Motley Elementary and Tuloso Midway Schools, as well as a member of The Arbor Society of Dallas. She began working as a Medical Assistant in Dallas and continued with this work after moving to Corpus Christi.
Beverly Padgett Stewart married William Calvin Gill on August 25, 1990. They were married until his death January 9, 2024. They had a wonderful life together and enjoyed dancing, fishing, and meeting new friends as they traveled the US. They enjoyed visiting Australia with grandchildren, Stacey and Bart, as their last great travel adventure.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother and was affectionately known as Mom, Grandma and Granny by her great-grandchildren. Family was always important to her, and she loved having family, especially the grandchildren and great-grandchildren, over for visits.
Beverly is preceded in death by her parents, Milton Padgett Sr. and Nanny Louise Padgett; her spouse, Calvin Gill; her brothers, Milton Padgett Jr. and Charles Lee Padgett; former husband, Gary Wayne Stewart; niece, Cathy Nannette Padgett; nephews, Ricky Wayne Padgett and Chris Lee Padgett.
Beverly will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by her family. She is survived by her children, Debbie Reiter (Steve), Wayne Stewart (Laura), Johnny Stewart and her sister-in-law, Jenny Padgett. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Stacey McLeroy (Bart), Stephen Reiter (Samantha), Christopher Perkins (Taylor), Justin Stewart (Chelsea), Nicole Stewart and Noah Stewart along with her great-grandchildren, Logan Mikeal, Trinity Callaway, Lane Stewart, Dylan Reiter, Paityn Reiter, Naomi Stewart, Janessa Stewart, Justice Stewart, Miracle Stewart, Blayke Dabbs, Chase Wheeler, Travis Perkins, Isabella Mackey, Elijah Hannah, Garrett Slaunwhite, Emma Slaunwhite, Zachariah Stewart and Brendan Stewart. She is also survived by her 4-legged baby, Susie, who was by her side for 13 years.
The family would like to thank her caregivers, Celeste Samaniego, Dorothy Rojas and Cindy Montalvo, who lovingly cared for her until her death.
There will be a visitation on Thursday, January 23, 2025 at Sawyer George Funeral home from 6 to 8 pm. A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, January 24, 2025 at Sawyer George starting at 12:30pm. She will be laid to rest with her husband at 2:00pm at the Coastal Bend State Veteran Cemetery following the funeral service.
Pallbearers will be Stephen Reiter, Christopher Perkins, Justin Stewart, Logan Mikeal, Trinity Callaway and Vince Callaway. Lane Stewart will serve as Honorary Pallbearer.
We will miss her and always remember her, but we know she is in Heaven with all her loved ones gone before her.
