Bernice Kaiser Balko, 85, passed away July 20, 2014. Born to the late Paul and Lydia Kaiser in South Texas on April 30, 1929, she was a dedicated farmers wife, wonderful mother to her three children, and a devote grandmother. Her great grandchildren were the light of her life. She is survived by her husband Clarence Balko; children, Larry and Ralph (Dianne) Balko, and Brenda (Wade) Bode; grandchildren, Bobby, Mia, Alexis, and Neely Balko, Matt (Audrey), and Bryan Bode and Beth (Mak) Becker; and great-granddaughters Brooke and Brenna Becker, and Kaydance and Gweneth Bode Bernice was a creative soul who put her many talents to use in baking concoctions like her famous cinnamon rolls, in painting landscapes of the South Texas plains, and in gardening. She is remembered as one of the most kind, gentle, loving, and thoroughly good-to-the-core souls by those who held the privilege of knowing and loving her. Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 23, 2014 from 6:00 pm-8pm at Sawyer George Funeral Home. Services will be held Thursday, July 24, 2014 at Messiah Lutheran Church at 10 am. Burial will follow at Robstown Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the American Diabetes Association. The family would like to thank special friends Al, Louise, Sherry, Roy, and Janice for all the love and support that they provided through the years. Additionally, we are eternally grateful for the wonderful caregivers that loved and took care of our Oma.
