With heavy hearts and profound sadness, we announce the passing of Benito Rea Jr., a beloved brother, and esteemed member of the community. Born on April 25, 1960, in Alice, Texas, Benito's journey through life was marked by steadfast dedication and an unwavering spirit, qualities that will be fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.  He graduated from Odem High School in 1978.

Benito devoted his life to his work as a skilled carpenter, showcasing not only his craftsmanship but also his commitment to building a better future for those he loved. Beyond his professional endeavors, he served proudly in the United States Air Force for four years, a testament to his dedication to service and his country.

A resident of Odem, Texas, Benito embraced the joys of life with enthusiasm, finding solace in simple pleasures such as fishing and spending quality time with his friends and family. These moments became the tapestry of his existence, woven with laughter, shared stories, and the warmth of companionship.

Benito departed this life on February 21, 2025, leaving behind a legacy that resonates deeply within the hearts of his loved ones. His father, Benito Rea Sr., and his mother, Leonila Salas, predeceased him, providing the foundation upon which he built his life. He is survived by his devoted brother, Gerardo Rea, and his adoring sisters, Iris (Freddie) Asevedo, Duvelia (John) Roehling, and Lydia (Mauro) Aguirre. He found great joy in the presence of his step daughters, whom he loved as his own, Leeann Gonzales and Crystal Marroquin, as well as in the laughter of several nieces and nephews who carry forward the love and values he instilled.
