Barbara Louise Sherman, a beloved community member, peacefully departed this life on March 20, 2025, in Corpus Christi, Texas, at the age of 85. Born on October 29, 1939, in San Antonio, Texas, Barbara embodied grace and dedication throughout her remarkable life.

An accomplished bookkeeper, Barbara demonstrated an exceptional attention to detail in her career, a testament to her strong work ethic and devotion. Beyond her professional endeavors, her heart always resided with her family, faith, and community. A proud member of Saint Peter's Catholic Church, Barbara nurtured her spiritual life, which was a cornerstone of her existence. Her warm spirit and kindness extended through her membership in the Fraternal Order of Eagles, where she fostered connections and friendships that enriched her life and the lives of those around her.

With a personality that radiated warmth, Barbara had a profound love for the color purple, symbolizing her vibrant and lively presence. She was not just a mother; she was a guiding light to her children, who carry forward her legacy of love and devotion. Barbara is survived by her loving children: Debra Pilchard, Jerry Sherman, Jr., Nanette Pe, Duane Sherman, William Sherman, Rena Watkins, and Michelle Von Dwingelo. Her love cascaded through her family, leaving behind a cherished lineage of 23 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren..

Barbara’s fervor for life was evident in her numerous passions, including her deep commitment to her church, the joy she found in family gatherings, and her adventurous spirit that led her to explore various corners of the world. She will be remembered not only for her love for travel but also for the stories and memories created along the way, which she shared with laughter and love.

Barbara's life will be honored during a series of services beginning with a visitation at Sawyer-George Funeral Home, located in Corpus Christi, Texas, on Sunday, March 30, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. The celebration of her life will continue on March 31, 2025, with a Holy Rosary starting at 10:30 AM at St. Peter Prince Of The Apostles, followed by a Mass at 11:00 AM. She will be interred at the Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery at 1:00 PM, allowing her family and friends an opportunity to pay their final respects.
